A Regular Dream Factory

My horoscope said I am one today. Today? How about every day.

I live in the realm of what if and how about...possibilities. Probably explains why the meals I like most come with several different dipping sauces. I would not call it living in a fantasy world--I am exceptionally grounded in the day-to-day realities, but I like to envision ideal scenarios of life and love, typically centric to myself. I am in fact, a dreamer and a doer.

Thoughts are things. Or, put another way, if it is to be it is up to me--the ten most important two letter words in the English language. I am enamored with the physics of the world--what has and what will be and why, and I have a particular interest in the "what will be". On several occasions in my 32 years I have had a sense of knowing, or have been so incredibly certain of an outcome that people think I'm full of crapola or, once again, living in a fantasy world.

For the record, I am not, and also for the record I have about an 81% accuracy rate of prediction.

I can't sit there and tell you what you're going to have for dinner tomorrow or the date you'll get married. You won't find me working at Cassadaga any time soon. But if I know you fairly well, it's likely I have known or will know something about your life before you do or it happens. It doesn't always manifest in the exact nature in which I intuit, but it's usually in the general vicinity. Not vicinity as in saying you live in Atlanta when you're actually in Alpharetta, more like saying you live in Atlanta and you're actually in Buckhead.

I just know. Some people call it intuition, some people call it premonition, some people call it plain crazy. I call it lucky. I spent years questioning myself but am finally learning to embrace this gift through re-examination of past events and the fact that, yes, I did know. Really. Hindsight is 20/20, but so too can be foresight.

What I don't know is if it's because I influence outcomes through thought, or if there is a pre-determined path. The age old argument of free will versus determinism. I'm reading an excellent book right now, quite possible the best book I have ever read, Winter's Tale. In it, there is a passage that speaks to how free will and determinism co-exist:

Everything that will exist already does. It has either been determined, is determined, or will be determined. But how and when is a matter of free-will.

Chills...every time I read it, and yes I've read it several times. It's so simple, yet so profound.

What do you believe? Do you believe you have a path in life and that making plans makes God laugh? Or do you think you have control over all events and if you think it, it will be?

I do.
